New horizon
Soulimage is a neologism that combines the terms soul and image. It refers to visual works that, using old or historical photographs and contemporary digital processes, seek to preserve, reinterpret, and project the symbolic essence of the human experience contained within the image.
In this new series I take a further step in my creative process, moving toward a more pictorial and symbolic language, deeply shaped by a feminist perspective. I work with black backgrounds as spaces of origin, silence, and historical memory, and use gold as a gesture of light, dignity, and rebirth. Between shadow and light, a dialogue emerges that speaks not only of inner processes, but also of the absences, wounds, and acts of resistance inscribed in women’s bodies and histories.
Upon these surfaces, I transfer images of women dressed in white who embrace, support, or simply recognize one another. Their gestures—intimate and essential—become acts of care and alliance. These are not decorative scenes, but rituals of complicity and mutual support that challenge individualistic and patriarchal narratives, reclaiming connection as a source of strength and survival. The body appears without artifice, as a political and symbolic territory— a site of memory, identity, and truth.
In some works, water emerges as an element of transformation and liberation. Together with the white garments, it evokes a conscious rebirth, a secular baptism that seeks to cleanse imposed mandates, guilt, and inherited narratives. In this suspended space, time slows down and the body reclaims its voice and legitimacy.
This series does not aim to tell closed stories, but to hold them. These are not portraits, but presences that resist erasure. Through light, silence, and materiality, I construct a feminine genealogy that reclaims the collective, the ancestral, and the shared. My work inhabits the space where wound and beauty coexist, understanding art as a political act of care, repair, and resistance—and as an invitation to look at ourselves with greater awareness, justice, and belonging.
